Punkin (the "App," "we," "us," or "our") is owned and operated by RoadReady LLC, located in Salem, Oregon, USA. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Punkin mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, accessing, or using Punkin, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.
Punkin is available worldwide. This policy is written to comply with applicable data protection laws in the United States (including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, "CCPA/CPRA"), the European Union and United Kingdom (the "GDPR" and "UK GDPR"), and the platform requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

For any privacy questions, requests to access, correct, or delete your data, or general concerns, please contact us using the information above. We aim to respond to all privacy-related requests within 30 days, or sooner where required by law.
2. Age Requirement
Punkin is not directed to children, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
3. Information We Collect
Creating a Punkin account requires signing in, so we collect basic account information tied to that sign-in. As you use the app, we also collect the data you enter directly — meals logged, macro goals, dietary and health information, and any photos you choose to scan.
- Name: if you provide it during account setup, used to personalize your experience.
- Email address: used for account creation, sign-in, and account-related communications.
- Health & dietary information: weight, allergies, dietary restrictions, macro targets, and logged meals — the core information Punkin uses to build your nutrition plan.
- Photos you scan: images of your fridge, pantry, or meals that you choose to submit for ingredient detection. These are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers afterward (see Section 6).
- Account & device identifiers: a user ID tied to your account, and a device identifier used by our subscription provider to manage your entitlements across devices.
- Purchase & subscription information: your subscription status and transaction history, managed through our billing provider.
Punkin does not collect app usage/interaction analytics (e.g., screen views, tap tracking) and does not collect crash or diagnostic data. We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and manage your account
- Generate personalized meal plans, recipe recommendations, and grocery lists
- Apply allergy and dietary-restriction filtering as a safety feature
- Power the Ask Punkin conversational assistant
- Track your macro and progress goals, if you choose to use those features
- Process subscription purchases and manage your Premium entitlements
- Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, or support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising or tracking, and none of your information is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. How We Share Information
We only share information with the limited set of service providers necessary to operate Punkin, under contractual obligations that restrict their use of your data to providing services to us:

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of RoadReady LLC, our users, or the public; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy).
We do not permit our service providers to use your data for their own independent purposes, including training their own general-purpose models on your personal conversations, beyond what is needed to deliver the response to you.
6. AI Processing (Ask Punkin & Photo Scanning)
When you scan your fridge, pantry, or a meal, or send a message to Ask Punkin, that content is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response — identifying ingredients in a photo, or answering your question. This processing happens in real time. Scanned photos are not retained by us or by Anthropic after the request is completed; they exist only long enough to generate your result.
7. Data Retention
Scanned photos are not retained after processing. Your account and usage data (profile information, health/dietary data, meal logs, goals) is retained for as long as your account remains active, so your tracking history stays available to you. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure authentication practices provided through Supabase. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Privacy Rights
9.1 All Users
Regardless of your location, you may:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information (most profile data can be edited directly in the app under "My Punkin")
- Delete your account and associated data, directly within the app or by submitting a deletion request
- Export your data in a portable format upon request
- Withdraw consent for optional features (e.g., camera access, notifications) at any time through your device settings
9.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what categories of personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell or share your personal information, so no opt-out action is necessary
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (such as health/allergy data) — we already limit use of this data strictly to app functionality
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

9.3 European Economic Area, UK, and Similar Jurisdictions (GDPR/UK GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with similar protections, our legal bases for processing your information are:
- Contractual necessity — to provide the Service you signed up for
- Consent — for optional features like camera/photo access or marketing communications
- Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Service
- Legal obligation — where required by applicable law
You additionally have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. International Transfers
Punkin's service providers (Supabase, RevenueCat, Anthropic) may process and store data on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms — to protect data transferred internationally.

Punkin does not collect usage/product interaction analytics or crash/diagnostic data, and does not use any data for third-party advertising.
12. No Medical Advice
Punkin provides general nutrition information and AI-generated meal suggestions for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider regarding any medical condition, allergy, or dietary restriction before making decisions based on information from the app.
13. Children's Privacy
Punkin is not intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided us with personal information should contact support@punkin.app so we can promptly delete it.
14. Do Not Track
Because Punkin does not use tracking technologies to monitor your activity across third-party apps or websites, "Do Not Track" browser signals do not apply to our Service.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of Punkin after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
